Old World Architecture – Donato Bramante 1444-1514
One of Italy’s most finest Papal Architects. Donato was best known for being the principle planner of Pope Julius II’s project of rebuilding St. Peter’s Basilica, of which he was the chief architect. Born of wealthy farmers, his father directed him towards painting which led him to be later known as an artist of illusionistic murals of Architecture. Although he loved painting, Architecture dominated his interests until his passing on April 11th, 1514.
